Earth Day Event in San Francisco A Big Success

San Francisco LOVES Waste to Waves – especially on Earthday! Sustainable Surf was proud to partner with the San Francisco Chapter of Surfrider to hold an EPS foam drop off space at their awesome Earthday Block Party. The Outer Sunset neighborhood on Taravel St. at Ocean Beach was out in full party mode for the event, and lots of folks simply walked from their houses with an arm load to drop for us. Classic SF street party with gourmet food trucks, a great beer garden from Bay area local brewery Trumer Pils, eco-face painting for kids, lots of NGO’s at tables, and Ocean Beach’s own MERMEN blowing the roof off of the Riptide Bar!

Sustainable Surf also partnered with Trumer Pils to make eco-friendly surfboards as raffle items at the event, with all proceeds going to support the work of SF Surfrider!  These amazing custom surfboards were made by Stretch Surfboards out of Santa Cruz, from recycled EPS blanks from Marko Foam and glassed with Entropy ‘Super Sap’ bio-epoxy resin. They also had a set of Green Flex fins from FCS (made 25% recycled carpet material) and of course they also carried the ECOBOARD verification logo from Sustainable Surf, based on the materials used. Congrats to the lucky winners!
